Tamiko Jones
I'll Be Anything For You (LP)
A&M Record SP 3011
1968 United States
I have got a real soft spot for Tamiko Jones. Be it her early northern soul recordings or the later disco releases, she keeps it funky. This is one of her best and rarest albums that has been swept under the radar for much too long. Rudy van Gelder in charge and a long list of featured jazz and funk musicians how can it go wrong. Listen to my favorite cut Ya Ya featuring Bernard Purdie on drums. Little surprise that it kicks of with a drum break. A few hairlines but nothing deep. Overall a nice looking record.
